FOLKLIFE VILLAGE

Step into the Folklife Village, a free and immersive area of the Rougarou Fest where the rich traditions of South Louisiana come to life! The Folklife Village takes place under several tents on the festival grounds:

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17:

Main Tent – Learn how to play the card game “Pedro” the bayou way starting at 6PM! Then from 7-9PM, this area will transform into a lively “fais do-do” with Cajun music and dancing—perfect for kicking off your festival weekend!

Kids’ Games – Fun activities from 5PM to 8PM on Friday (5 tickets for unlimited play).

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18 and SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19:

Main Tent – This area will house our Narrative “Talk” Stage featuring live interviews and cooking demonstrations (see daily schedules below).

Demonstration Tents – These areas will house day-long cultural demonstrations where tradition bearers and craftspeople showcase their skills and invite visitors to learn. Planned demonstrations include a French Table, Boat Building, Netmaking, Basket Weaving, Wood Carving, Native American Regalia, Palmetto Huts, Mexican Mojingangas, Gardening and Native Plants.

Coastal Organizations – This area provides a place to teach our visitors how to get involved in saving our coast through coastal protection and restoration from 10AM to 5PM Saturday and Sunday. We’re proud to partner with many coastal organizations!

Kids’ Games – Fun activities from 10AM to 8PM Saturday and 10AM to 5PM Sunday (5 tickets for unlimited play).
