Prop weapons can include futuristic weapons like ray guns, light sabers, and phasers. We also allow wooden or metal bats, but ask that they not be swung around or used in a threatening way.
- What’s not allowed
We don’t allow realistic replica firearms, Air-soft Guns, Rotating machinery, sharp-edged props, functional bows or crossbows, darts, slingshots, unsecured whips, or pyrotechnics.
- How to handle
Prop weapons should be displayed as costume pieces and not swung, thrown, jabbed, or brandished. You should also never point a gun prop at yourself or another attendee.
- Safety
Prop weapons should be safe and not dangerous to other attendees. For example, they shouldn’t have wires sticking out or be a tripping hazard. Also be mindful of any lights or lasers that come out of the weapon. Do no point them in anyone’s face. Also loud noises can be harmful to some of our guests and should be taken into consideration. You should also limit the size of your prop to less than 8 feet in height and 50 pounds in weight. Also do no leave your props unattended, we are not responsible for any lost or damaged props.
- Confiscation and Bans
If a GCC staff member believes a prop is unsafe or is being used inappropriately, they may confiscate it.
Violation of any of these rules will result in a Temporary or even permanent ban to any of our events. (Collector’s Con, Nerd Swap, Rou-Ga-Con, or Gamer Club)
If you feel any of these rules are being broken please find the nearest GCC Event Staff worker. They will be identified by Event staff on the back of their shirts and also the GCC logo on the front in some form or fashion.
